The stories shown were in the following order:

from drowning off of the coast of the UK.
Heart disease – Statistics and a dance charity to that is
raising money to help people with heart disease.

the teenage cancer trust.
Sport – Talking about the Rio Olympics as well as rugby.
The audio and visuals used in the starting sequel are relevant to the news
being presented later in the program, shown on screen would be a recording of
what had happened recently, such as in this program there were multiple shots
of familiar things to do with the referendum, as well as some of the people
participating in the Rio Olympics. The audio is quite fast paced to keep the audience’s
attention along with a voiceover of a well-spoken man telling us what will be shown
later in the program but leave cliff hangers on each of the stories mentioned.

Part 2
The role of a newsreader is to clearly say what the news;
they must also have good posture and make themselves look confident with what
they are saying. They must have an authoritative voice to capture the audiences’
attention.
The skills that are necessary would be to be able to speak
clearly and confidently without stuttering or mumbling, you must be able to
have confidence in front of a camera and must be able to deal with pressure
with ease. Other skills needed would be to have the ability to remember a large
quantity of information and to be able to recite it without problems regularly,
finally there must be research done on the topics being discussed before presenting
the information.
Part 3
News ordering – This is where the news would be presented in
an order which viewers will like, such as most news programmes will start off
with bad news and end with good news, this leaves viewers feeling happy and
positive.
Breaking news is the term for what is most likely to appear
on the news.
The story that is most likely to be shown first is the one
that affects the most people, and that has happened recently it is selected
like this because it is what the audience most likely wants to see news on.
The other stories on the news are put in an order based on
their length and topic.
It is important to act quickly in news due to them only have
a certain amount of time that they are given, it is very important that they
can get the broadcast done by the time given. It is also important to act
quickly due to the chance that the audience may get bored.
A slow news day is a term used to describe a broadcast which
does not have many substantial stories to cover; as a result the news that is
presented to us is often trivial and is not very important.
The finally story of the broadcast is known as an ‘and
finally’ this is usually a light story to put the broadcast to a smoother end
and also leaving the audience happy and calm.
News values are a way of ordering the importance of stories, which ones should
be included and which ones should not, as well as which ones should go first
and which one should go last. Some of the factors are how recent the news is,
the amplitude of the news, how many people it affects, the familiarity and
finally is the news a surprise? These are the main things that affect what gets
into the news broadcast and what order they are placed in. The EU referendum is
a recent event that happened which is culturally familiar with the UK, it
affects large numbers of people and the result was a surprise to many.

Part 4
Bias through selection and omission is often used to change
what people think about the topic by excluding some information and in turn
changing or reinforcing their opinion on something.
Bias through placement order is up to the editors, the first
story is what the audience would see as the most important story, when it may
not be, giving the audience a false impression of the topic.
Stories in the headlines can be biased as they make the
audience feel that it is important news when it is in fact not.
The photos and shots used in the news broadcast heavily
influence the audience and their opinion on the topic, especially with people;
this could change the audience’s views on a certain person to make the look
better or worse.
The titles that are used in the news are important as it can
give a positive or negative connotation to that person.
When positive or negative words are used when broadcasting
the topic, the audience will pick up on it and will view the topic as negative
of positive with the words used to describe it, or along with it.
